Digital Diagnostics has created an entirely new industry: from the ethical foundation for autonomous AI in healthcare, inclusion in clinical standards of care, a framework for the medical liability for autonomous AI, and a mechanism for the financial value that has most recently led to Medicare reimbursement. All of these were necessary steps to get the results of the science of AI to benefit patients – which is after all the basis for why we are doing all of this good work. Only doing the research studies, or even getting regulatory approval, does not change clinical practice. Workable business models are needed.
