History

Dr. Shedler recognized that 60% of patients with mental
disorders seek treatment from primary care physicians
(PCPs), not mental health professionals. These patients
often go undiagnosed and untreated. They suffer needlessly
and contribute to rising healthcare costs.
Existing mental health screening tests were not widely
used in medical settings. Dr. Shedler learned through
interviews and focus groups that the tests did not meet
physicians' needs. They were too time-consuming, did not
integrate well into busy medical clinics, and often did
not provide enough information to help PCPs make treatment
decisions.
Dr. Shedler's passion to help both physicians and patients
led him to develop a test that makes mental health assessment
“as easy as ordering a lab test.” The QPD Panel:
- requires no time from physicians or office staff
- requires no training
- assesses a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders
- provides results in a familiar "lab report" format
- provides specific DSM-IV diagnosis codes
- integrates seamlessly into the workflow of busy
medical clinics.
