How is the QPD Panel used in primary care clinics?
The test has been used in different ways, depending on the needs of the clinic or healthcare organization. Some clinics routinely administer the test to all patients at check in. The receptionist can ask the patient to complete the test in the waiting room, and the physician can have the results before examining the patient.

In other clinics, physicians administer the test when they suspect a mental health problem. Either way, the QPD Panel can integrate easily into the work flow. For example, a physician can ask the patient to complete the QPD Panel, go on to examine another patient, then return to review the findings with the first patient. Physicians report that the QPD Panel saves time and helps them work more efficiently.

How is the QPD Panel being used in behavioral health clinics?
The QPD Panel helps mental health professionals work more efficiently. The QPD Panel helps streamline the intake process, allowing clinicians to focus on key problem areas. The information in the QPD Panel report can help guide the clinical interview and direct the clinician’s attention to symptoms that might otherwise be overlooked. With basic diagnostic questions covered, clinician and patient are free to devote more time to treatment issues. There is some evidence that patients may be more candid about symptoms when responding to a computerized questionnaire.

The QPD Panel is also used to monitor patient progress and assess outcomes. Behavioral health providers are under increasing pressure to measure outcomes and document treatment efficacy. The QPD Panel report provides an objective outcome measure to document patient progress, or document the need for additional mental health services.

Aggregate data reporting helps behavioral health organizations monitor trends in the patient population and assess aggregate outcomes. Strong outcome assessment can provide a competitive advantage when bidding for contracts.
